Yes, and for several reasons. First, multiple layers automatically make something stronger and more firm. Second, the top coating protects the floor from scratches and aids in the waterproofing; it keeps the spills at the top just waiting to be wiped off. Finally, all vinyl is strong, but true LVF is at least 8-mm in thickness with a thick top wear layer which should measure at least 20-mils.
This is impervious to water. LVF is constructed of waterproof materials, in this case, vinyl, so the capability is inherent from bottom to top. That means it can be submerged in liquid, such as an appliance flood or spilled on. Water-resistant flooring repels liquid, but it needs to be wiped immediately, or it will break through to soak the core.
LVF is also low maintenance, only requiring daily sweeping and periodic mopping with a manufacturer-approved cleaner. Avoid waxy-shine-promoting cleaners as they damage the urethane finish and dull the floors. Installation is also easy and fast, especially when it's a floating floor where the pieces click together, mat, then hover over the subfloor with no nails or glue.
Luxury vinyl flooring is so stylish it's even a top choice among restaurant designers where style, function and easy cleanability is a priority. Visit
